Comparative Study of Optimization Techniques Based PID Tuning for Automatic Voltage Regulator System

A comparative study is performed to design an optimal PID controller for automatic voltage regulator system using different optimization techniques. The presented approaches are referred as particle swarm (PSO) algorithm, cuckoo search (CSO) moth flame (MFO) water cycle (WCO) teaching–learning-based (TLBO) and hill climbing (HCO) algorithm. Transient response parameters, which rise time Tr, settling Ts, percentage overshoot Mp, used comparison criteria. integral absolute error ITAE the performance index. All proposed techniques improved transient of AVR in a way gave good preliminary results.
